Dear ReaderWhat are you celebrating today? May 2 is a special day for me and I'm celebrating - I hope you'll join me! On May 2, 2009, I took a giant leap of faith and became an entrepreneur by opening the doors of my very own studio, Avenues Yoga, in Salt Lake City. Believe me, I was scared! I was pregnant with Ava at the time, and unsure of how to best support her. Should I stay in my University job, which I no longer enjoyed, but where I had security, a clear path forward and (gulp) health benefits? Or should I take a leap of faith and say YES to the work I truly LOVE: Helping people feel better in their bodies. No security. No guarantees. Just a blind step forward into a greater mystery. I think you know the answer... When Ava was born a few months later, she was born into a community of people who already loved the studio. A community of people who care about taking better care of themselves. A community of people who consciously choose to be kind to themselves and others. I never felt more blessed, or more sure of my path. And none of it would be possible without you, Reader. If you are reading this, you are part of this story: we have probably come into contact through my continued teaching or continued learning. If it were not for your support, I would not be living my dream. So I'm celebrating you today, with a heart full of gratitude. Most businesses fail within the first five years. Mine has only grown in depth and reach. It has evolved and expanded to include not only Yoga, but Pilates, Reformer and Coaching. I'm not saying this to brag - at all - only as a way to try to express the immense gratitude I feel every day. Honestly, it still feels like a miracle. Because of you, I get to keep doing the work I love. So, please celebrate with me! And know that I thank you and appreciate you. Not just today, but every day. I couldn't do it without you! My take-away and advice from 14 years as an entrepreneur? Just what the universe told me when I first took that leap of faith: Follow your dreams. Don't give up. Not ever. The world needs you. Love,

September 27, 2026 Hi Reader! This week, we're bringing out the Jump Board! Think of it as cardio lying down: you'll gently spring off a padded board attached to the Reformer, getting your heart rate up while the carriage supports your body. Here's why we love it: Jump board supports your bones. As estrogen declines through perimenopause and menopause, bone density drops more quickly. Bones respond to quick, springy loading, and the Jump Board delivers that in a controlled, supported way. It...
September 20, 2026 Hi Reader! Fall in Vermont means one thing for a lot of us: hours of raking. All that reaching, twisting, and bending forward can leave your lower back tight and your shoulders tired. Here are three Reformer moves to help you reset. Bridging (Pelvic Curl). Lying on the carriage with your feet on the footbar, roll your spine up one vertebra at a time and back down. This gently mobilizes a back that’s been locked in one position and wakes up your glutes, so they can share the...
August 28, 2024 Reformer fun on YouTube Is Pilates as Good as Everyone Says? According to a recent article in the New York Times, studies have found that Pilates - including Reformer and Yogalates - can help improve muscle endurance and flexibility, reduce chronic pain and lessen anxiety and depression. Amelia Bell, writing for Women's Health Magazine, did Pilates Reformer for a month. She notes, "The results amazed me." "The cushioning, height and instability of the rolling carriage with the...
